Which foreigners are eligible to apply for a B-class work visa?

Foreign professionals who meet the requirements of the Catalogue of Guidelines for Foreigners Working in China and the job requirements, and are urgently needed for the development of China’s economic and social undertakings, and meet one of the following conditions, are determined as Class B.

(1) Foreign professionals with a bachelor’s degree or above and 2 years or more of relevant work experience. Comply with one of the following provisions:

1. Management personnel or professional technical personnel engaged in scientific research, teaching, management and other work in special fields such as education, scientific research, news, publishing, culture, art, health, sports, etc.

2. Personnel who execute agreements between Chinese and foreign governments, international organizations, Sino foreign economic and trade, and engineering technology contracts shall have their age requirements relaxed in accordance with the terms of intergovernmental exchange and cooperation agreements for personnel dispatched by internationally renowned academic institutions and scientific and educational international organizations.

3. Personnel hired by international organizations’ representative offices in China and representatives of overseas expert organizations’ representative offices in China.

4. Middle level and above employees dispatched by multinational corporations, as well as chief representatives and representatives of foreign companies’ permanent representative offices in China.

5. Foreign managers or professional technical personnel employed by various enterprises, institutions, social organizations, etc.

(2) Holding internationally recognized vocational skills qualification certificates or urgently needed skilled talents.

For example, foreign language instructors. Foreign language teaching personnel should, in principle, engage in teaching the mother tongue of their native country, obtain a bachelor’s degree or above from a university, and have more than 2 years of language education work experience. Among them, those who have obtained a bachelor’s degree or above in education, language, or teacher education, or have obtained a teacher qualification certificate in their country or an international language teaching certificate that meets the requirements, may be exempt from the work experience requirement.

Obtaining a qualified international language teaching certificate refers to the TEFL in China certificate issued by the Foreign Talent Information Research Center of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs; For those who have obtained an international language certificate through training and testing by foreign social training institutions and educational institutions, the training hours must be at least 120 hours, and the teaching content must cover necessary skills training for language teachers such as classroom management, course planning, grammar, lexicology, phonetics, etc. Applicants should also provide the relevant interface of the training course website for query; For those who have obtained relevant international language qualification certificates from foreign universities, the university must be included in the list of foreign universities published on the Education Foreign Affairs Supervision

Relaxing the nationality requirements for some foreign language teaching personnel, such personnel should obtain a doctoral degree or a master’s degree in education, language, or teacher training in a country where their mother tongue is the language they teach, or obtain a teaching qualification in a country where their mother tongue is the language they teach. Their degree must be certified by a Chinese academic accreditation agency.

(3) Foreign talents whose average salary income is not less than four times the average social salary income of the previous year in the local area

(4) Specialized personnel and project implementation personnel who comply with relevant national regulations.

(5) Professional talents with a score of 60 or above.
Points based evaluation refers to scoring based on educational background, Chinese proficiency, years of work experience, salary, and other factors. A total score of 60 or above is required to apply for B-type talent.
